Olivia & Travis’ Rustic Farm Wedding – Karaka, Auckland

Where do we start with Olivia and Travis?! We had such a wonderful day filled with smiles, love and laughter! A serious highlight for us this summer. Liv and Trav and their incredible friends and family just had the most warm, friendly, loving vibe at this wedding. I suppose it’s pretty much just a reflection of them both as a couple! Liv lights up a room when she walks in, and Trav was looking dapper in that suit could melt any heart! Of course, the ties (and many other things for that matter) were lovingly handmade by Liv! These guys have such an eye for detail and everything came together so perfectly- from the light blue kombi van, to the table centre pieces, beautiful flowers, bunting and hay bales to the family farm in Karaka it was held!…this wedding was perfectly rustic. Perfect in every way! I think we might just have died and gone to photographer’s heaven for the day :-)

A few images from this wedding were featured in Issue Two of Magnolia Rouge MagazineThe Rustic Issue. But we couldn’t resist sharing a whole heap more here for you to enjoy! Liv and Trav’s wedding was one that we can’t really do justice with just words…..so check it out below!

Dear to my heart

This is a post dear to my heart. A few weeks back I photographed my older sister and her beautiful family. This should have been done months ago, but with the birth of her twin boys finding the time is hard! Doesn’t she look amazing for having recently had twins?!

Now, I am by no means a family portrait photographer! Children really are such a challenge to photograph… so unpredictable! I photographed, while Alex provided entertainment for the kids with toys! We also had Spencer (our wee dog) with us, which helped too- oh how they love Spencer!

Coralee x

Mia Lee - ahhh what a beautiful family :) Such sweethearts!

Julia Yoder - Hi, I’m Mom to Joanna’s “Charlie” (Charles) who is a twin with Richard. Their big sister is 3 1/2 years older than them. When we told her we were pregnant, she prayed (specifically) for twin boys! We’re so glad that God answered her prayer! A few years later, we were blessed with another boy, Ben. You took great family photos; catching the natural moments is what’s important.

Melissa Chan Chui - Such fun photos Coralee, I think I may need to get you to take some family ones of my little family when we are back or do you just do wedding and family ones for your family?

Frances Hadfield - Great photos, Coralee & Alex. Looking forward to seeing one framed. Thanks for posting them. Thanks for sharing your story too, Julia. We’re hoping for more grand-children :)

Coralee de Freitas - Hey @[570720246:2048:Melissa Chan Chui]! I would love top photograph your wee family! But mainly just so I can catch up with you guys! Hope you are well :-) xx

Melissa Chan Chui - Amazing, I would love to catch up with you too!!! We are back for good in July so lets arrange something then. Xoxox

Frances Hadfield - Thanks so much for sharing the Hadfield family photos, Coralee. You & Alex got some great shots. Nice to post them too. Would be lovely to get one enlarged/framed. Can we request a full Hadfield family photo at Joanna & Charlie’s Wedding please?

Vania Dunn - love these guys – my sister and family xx.

Introducing Katie & Hadyn – Samoa Wedding

Just yesterday we returned to the cold, damp shores of Aotearoa following an incredible few days spent in Samoa. We’re actually still just in that stage where it all kind of feels like it was one big dream. One big, unreal, sunny, warm, pool-bar, tropical fruit-filled dream! We were lucky enough to be there to celebrate with Katie & Hadyn for their wedding ceremony on Wednesday at Aggie Grey’s Resort. Because we can’t really find the words to express how grateful we are that they invited us to come photograph them –  and because we really just can’t hold off sharing a few frames from the day any longer – here’s a wee peek into Wednesday’s tropical celebration….Notice that epic golden Samoan sunset glow on their faces in the last photograph!? Oh!, take us back!

Shontelle Faulkner - Love them all.

Jana and Phil’s incredible English fête meets fiesta party extravaganza Opoutere Beach wedding day…

Jana and Phil…the Badger and the Beer…two of our most favourite people in the whole wide world! We first met Jana in a quiet little Onehunga cafe almost a year before her wedding. She explained to us the plan for her wedding – an english fete meets mexican fiesta party extravaganza. She was to be married in the pine forest at Opoutere. We were excited…who wouldn’t be!?…fete!…pine forest! But I’m not sure we truly understood exactly the scale of what she meant until the we arrived on wedding day itself. It was incredible! Breathtaking! A celebration of epic proportions! Jana and Phil”s family had come from far and wide to join them in Opoutere and the good old Coromandel had most certainly turned it on for them. All the bridal party prepared in the same house as guests slowly arrived and joined in the celebrations on the lawn. There was coconut shy, skittles, sombreros, piñatas, a live band playing Beatles covers and candy-floss too! There was actually too many cute details to even begin to list.

After a couple of hours enjoying the sun, everyone began the short walk down into the forest where the ceremony would take place. We were in photograper’s heaven! The low afternoon light streamed in amongst the trees and we witnessed one of the most awesomely intimate and unique ceremonies that we’ve ever been lucky enough to be a part of. Compared to the bunting and colours and festivities of the fete…there was not a trace in the forest before we arrived indicating the spot the ceremony would take place…all that encompassed us as we gathered around awaiting Jana was the pine trees which formed the most epic of altars. Just the forest and us. Twenty minutes later, any passersby would be non-the-wiser that a wedding ceremony had just taken place. I loved that. So beautiful and simple. So NZ. It’s also worth mentioning that Jana had changed from her fete atire into the most amazing vintage gown!

After the ceremony all the guests took a short walk again – to Opoutere Beach – where everyone enjoyed a glass of champagne and cooled their toes in the ocean. Then it was off to a marque festooned in fairy lights for dinner. It was simply the perfect day spent with wonderful people. It reminds us of summer when we look back at these images. Take us back! Jana, Phil….we adore you both and look forward to catching up with you again soon! Until then we might have to just keep looking and looking again at this post!
