These guys were married last Saturday. It did not stop raining all day!
You can’t control the weather but you can control what you make of the day! These guys didn’t let a few rain drops spoil their moods!
Jana and Phil…the Badger and the Beer…two of our most favourite people in the whole wide world! We first met Jana in a quiet little Onehunga cafe almost a year before her wedding. She explained to us the plan for her wedding – an english fete meets mexican fiesta party extravaganza. She was to be married in the pine forest at Opoutere. We were excited…who wouldn’t be!?…fete!…pine forest! But I’m not sure we truly understood exactly the scale of what she meant until the we arrived on wedding day itself. It was incredible! Breathtaking! A celebration of epic proportions! Jana and Phil”s family had come from far and wide to join them in Opoutere and the good old Coromandel had most certainly turned it on for them. All the bridal party prepared in the same house as guests slowly arrived and joined in the celebrations on the lawn. There was coconut shy, skittles, sombreros, piñatas, a live band playing Beatles covers and candy-floss too! There was actually too many cute details to even begin to list.
After a couple of hours enjoying the sun, everyone began the short walk down into the forest where the ceremony would take place. We were in photograper’s heaven! The low afternoon light streamed in amongst the trees and we witnessed one of the most awesomely intimate and unique ceremonies that we’ve ever been lucky enough to be a part of. Compared to the bunting and colours and festivities of the fete…there was not a trace in the forest before we arrived indicating the spot the ceremony would take place…all that encompassed us as we gathered around awaiting Jana was the pine trees which formed the most epic of altars. Just the forest and us. Twenty minutes later, any passersby would be non-the-wiser that a wedding ceremony had just taken place. I loved that. So beautiful and simple. So NZ. It’s also worth mentioning that Jana had changed from her fete atire into the most amazing vintage gown!
After the ceremony all the guests took a short walk again – to Opoutere Beach – where everyone enjoyed a glass of champagne and cooled their toes in the ocean. Then it was off to a marque festooned in fairy lights for dinner. It was simply the perfect day spent with wonderful people. It reminds us of summer when we look back at these images. Take us back! Jana, Phil….we adore you both and look forward to catching up with you again soon! Until then we might have to just keep looking and looking again at this post!
Olivia and Travis… where do we begin with these two? It was SUCH an honor to photograph their special day. They are such a warm, big hearted couple who are so madly, deeply in love! And boy did they know how to throw a shindig! Every little detail was perfect and thought out, from the table centre pieces to the little names stitched on every groomsman tie. These two really set a bench mark and we were so thrilled to be there and to capture the events of the day unfold. Thank you, Olivia and Trav.
We knew the world would want to be inspired by their amazing taste so we were ecstatic when their beautiful wedding was featured in the latest issue of Magnolia Rouge Magazine! Below are the published pages from the magazine, but be sure to check out the magazine in it’s stunning entirety. It is chocka full of all things beautiful to inspire future brides and grooms! Thank you Kate for the feature.
We most definitely will be blogging all the images from this wedding in the future! Stay tuned!
Alex and I received this beautiful leather bound wedding album by courrier the other day, all ready to give to our wonderful clients Megan and Ed. We are very proud to use Kiss Books as our album supplier as we just LOVE the chic, simple yet sexy make of the albums! Not to mention the impecable printing and colours of the photos within. Megan and Ed opted for a black leather cover and added a number of extra pages to make this baby nice and fat!
I don’t think there is anything better than seeing the wedding images we created for them in a finished form. And I hope Megan and Ed will cherish this album for the rest of their lives!
How do you describe a wedding day where everything is just perfect!? Perfect venues and surroundings. Perfect friends. Perfect family. A perfect uber cute couple! Everything about Genevieve and Jon’s wedding day was just absolutely breathtaking. The girl’s day began just around the corner from Mantell’s at Eden Villa. Gen, can you be our new best friend? Please? You were the most relaxed, beautiful, bubbly bride to be that we’ve ever met! Meanwhile, Jon and his boy’s prepared for the day in Kingsland. When the boys arrived at Eden Villa we took Jon out into the gardens where he patiently awaited his bride. All the girls hid behind the curtains and peeped out at him. I’m pretty sure we shed a few tears as we photographed them seeing each other for the first time. Amazing!! In the quiet at Mantell’s before the guests had arrived we had some fun photographing everybody before the ceremony began. It was a fun-filled day that was pretty perfect in every way! We had a blast. Because all of the bridal party were doctors….we were probably surrounded by the most incredibly smart, talented people we’ve ever been surrounded by too :-) We can’t find anymore words to express what an amazing day this was…..so take a look at some of the photographs! Gen, Jon….it was an absolute pleasure to be a part of your wedding day! We love you guys!! C&A.
