Coralee & Alex – Photographers

When Kate and Gary emailed us asking if we were free to photograph their wedding at Matapouri Bay…..we were over the moon! We were hanging out for this one all summer! Alex has holidayed at Matapouri every year since he was still in his mum’s tummy! It’s a place he knows like the back of his own hand. We drove up on the day of the wedding and had breakfast on the dunes overlooking Woolley’s Bay nearby. Kate and Gary looked AMAZING and were married barefoot on the beach. We realised that if we were being married again, this is exactly the way we’d want to do it! For a while there it was touch and go with the rain…..Gary, a sailor, nervously paced around the beach house as they got dressed – glancing at the horizon often and refreshing the weather reports on his phone. It almost rained enough to call it off….but thankfully, come time to be married, the clouds only produced little droplets, nothing more. Not that anything could dampen the spirits of Kate, Gary, their family and friends.

We love the moody sky against the whites they are both wearing and the soft tones of the beach and dunes. Following the wedding the guests enjoyed ICECREAM while we went for a stroll down the beach for some bridal party photos. There are a bunch of cute baches on the dunes down the estuary end of Matapouri Bay. We knocked on doors but on this particular weekend not one of them was occupied but they were too cute to pass up. If you own one of the baches in these images, THANKS!….we assure you…nothing on the dunes in front of your house was harmed in the making of these photographs! Overall….an epic day with one of the most loveliest couples you will ever meet! Kate and Gary are currently sailing somewhere in the Caribbean on their own yacht!

We’ve got an enormous amount of work to do getting the past month’s weddings out to everyone. So we’ve had our Monday morning coffee, made a game plan, and are planning on putting our heads down and working double time all this week (and Sunday after this Sat’s wedding). If all goes to plan….we should be way more up to date by next week. Basically, we’re tuning out for a week…..but before we do that we wanted to leave you something a little different. Disclaimer: We realize that animated GIFs are so 1999….and can be pretty cheesy. But you know what….we couldn’t help ourselves and they’re actually pretty awesome. We didn’t have a tripod….and it was all a little impromptu…but here’s two little scenes from our wonderful day hanging with Shannon and Jeremy on Saturday. Enjoy and we’ll see you all soon!

As the days get shorter and the sun begins to set earlier, it can sometimes be a challenge to get that perfect light we all want as wedding photographers. Not yesterday!…..Yesterday was a dream! Shannon and Jeremy were blessed with the most stunning autumn day ever as they were married yesterday at St Mary’s in Parnell. After the ceremony we spent some time in the Auckland Domain at a spot that was special to them both. The bridal party must have thought we were drunk or something. We were both going crazy yelling and jumping all over the show because of how awesome the soft afternoon light was. We got some great photographs of everyone before heading off to Gracehill for the reception….but trust us….we could have stayed here ALL afternoon! The top two images are pretty much straight out of the camera……just one lovely couple and some incredible autumn sunlight. Much more of this goodness coming soon! C&A xx

Hey, it’s Alex! Surely you’ll remember Lucy and Ben from this lovely little preview post a few days ago…After we shot away from their morning ceremony we spent a bit of time with the bridal party down at Wynyard Quarter. We didn’t have much time so Coralee led the way photographing digitally and I spent the time sneaking in film frames over her shoulder. Haha. I’m sure the bridal party think I’m ridiculous popping up every now and then from behind in the shadows. We had such fun with the wonderful Lucy, Ben ad their bridal party. The digital files always take us a while to get through thousands of them at this time of year…but we were patiently awaiting the arrival of these few films from the Lab. FujiColor PRO400H and Kodak BW400CN and the most incredible looking bride and groom (who at this moment are enjoying their honeymoon in DISNEYLAND!). I always have to say that this is not the official wedding post…There’s plenty more goodness shot on digital being worked on as we speak….but here’s another little peek. Film, grain, blurryness, smiles, and two gorgeous newlyweds :-) Alex.
